A momentum strategy, tested point-in-time over 17 years
— against the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq-100

Rank every stock above $1B market cap by 12-month price momentum, hold the top 25 equal-weight, rebalance monthly. Fully mechanical, no discretion. Tested point-in-time since 2009 on the full ~4,350-name universe (foreign filers included): it beat the S&P 500 in two of three windows, lost to it in 2012–2016, and carried drawdowns half again deeper than the index. We publish the loss as plainly as the wins.

The Quality Momentum Portfolio
— a quality screen, then residual momentum

Our own two-factor strategy: screen the universe for profitability and balance-sheet safety, then rank the survivors by market-beta-adjusted 12-month momentum, hold the top 25 equal-weight, rebalance monthly. The profitability gate is what pure momentum was missing: on the full ~4,350-name universe it kept a +7.5pp/yr edge over the S&P 500 after 0.3%/trade costs and beat the index in all three test windows after costs — the strongest record of our strategies, with the honest caveat that its drawdowns ran to −40%.
